Carol Meis Ellington of Plattsmouth, Nebraska; graduated Magna Cum Laude from Bellevue University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Printmaking. She is an accomplished artist in creating woodcuts and etchings. She has been juried into over 50 shows nationwide.

Carol has won numerous awards both locally and nationally. In 2002 she received the Purchase Award from ANAC (Association of Nebraska Art Clubs) chosen by curators from the Museum of Nebraska Art at Kearney. Her "Quilt Prints" were on display at the Governor's Mansion in Lincoln. Carol recently received a Purchase Award in a show at Minot State University at Minot, North Dakota.

"Printmaking is the ultimate challenge because it's open to many possibilities and interpretations. The cutting and etching process is as important as the finished piece. Printmaking allows me to manipulate the wood or metal plate to achieve the right texture, color, contrast, etc.; to experiment beyond the traditional print processes; and to pursue my own personal vision. Most of my work is very structured, but I leave room for "happy accidents".

Carol's work can be seen at the Artists' Co-operative Gallery in the Old Market in Omaha.
