There were always
paper and pencils handy for Barbara to use to draw and create artwork
under the guidance of her artist mother. She received a Bachelor of
Science degree from the University of Nebraska and was a high school
business teacher. Her art education is from workshops and seminars from
national and international instructors. She has taught art for Southeast
Community College, local and regional art shops, and adult education
classes. She has been active for over 25 years in the local art scene
being an active member and holding offices, directing workshops, and
promoting art with programs for social and civic organizations.
This Plattsmouth,
NE resident has won numerous awards in competition, and honors, such
as the Golden Palette Award (Outstanding contributions for promoting
the Arts), a painting chosen for P.E.O. Magazine cover, three paintings
from her Lewis and Clark series to be used for brochure covers of Southeast
Nebraska tourism for 2003-2005; and was the featured artist at the UNL
Rotunda Art Gallery for the North American Arts and Science Conference
of Czech Republic and Slavic Countries, 2001. Barbara is an extensive
traveler and has painted both local and European scenes. Her primary
medium is watercolor.
